Focus on the Atacama PSH project in Chile: 450 MW, a first in the country!
Thanks to their expertise and through topographical, environmental, social and technical analysis, Hyvity and its Chilean partner Susterra have identified a dozen potential sites in northern Chile. In recent months, we have secured the projects that are most beneficial to the region and its electricity grid, while minimising their environmental impact and maximising their performance.
Among these projects, the Atacama PSH will be able to store and redistribute nearly 3,600 MWh per day by 2031.
It will enable:
- A reduction in CO2 emissions in the region;
- The stabilisation of the electricity grid and a reduction in curtailment phases;
- The resumption of the development of new solar infrastructure in the country;
- The closure of fossil fuel energy production infrastructure.
