Consequently, we have recently initiated the detailed studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Supported by the most experienced local players in the field, we are allocating this $4 million budget to enable the development of these two high-efficiency (nearly 80%), sustainable, and mature energy storage solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By 2030, thanks to this project, we aim to harness over 1500 GWh per year of otherwise wasted energy, mainly from solar sources, and return it to the grid when it is most needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hyvity.com\/en\/elementor-3891\/\">For more information on pumped-storage hydropower (PSH)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"677\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hyvity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/STEP-modelisation-1024x677.png\" alt=\"STEP - PSH - mod\u00e9lisation 3D\" class=\"wp-image-5134\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"is-layout-flow wp-block-group hyvity-focus has-white-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"background-color:#33546f\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:38% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hyvity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/1720620213328.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4711 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p><em>&#8220;The need for storage in Chile is becoming increasingly important due to the ongoing energy dumping (curtailment) faced by the national grid.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The overproduction of solar energy in the north, without the capability to be fully transported to the center of the country, results in the loss of enormous amounts of energy.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>With storage systems, this energy can be redirected to consumption centers during periods of low production. Among storage systems, PSH (or reversible pumped storage) \u2013 with its unparalleled robustness and simplicity \u2013 has not yet been developed in the country. With Hyvity, we aim to be pioneers in this field&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><strong>Jordi Vidal Pujol<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Jordi Vidal Pujol, a hydropower engineer for Hyvity in Chile, has been working for several months on identifying and developing hydropower projects in the country.
